St. John's Meadows to Celebrate 10th Anniversary

St. John's Meadows, a St. John's Senior Community located at 1 Johnsarbor Drive in Brighton, will celebrate its tenth (diamond) anniversary on Saturday, October 11. The 60 residents who have resided in the community since its inception will gather for dinner and a dessert reception from 5:00 to 9:00 pm in the Briarwood. The University of Rochester’s YellowJackets will provide vocal entertainment from 7:00 to 8:00 pm.

In October of 1998, St. John's Home, a multi-level health care facility providing services for the elderly since 1899, celebrated the grand opening of St. John's Meadows, a beautiful new residential community offering a variety of lifestyle choices to Rochester's seniors. In 1999, St. John's Meadows received the Merit Achievement Award from the National Council on Seniors Housing, of the National Association of Home Builders. In particular, the judges commended the range of lifestyle options and living choices available to seniors on one campus.

Enhancements in the past years have included the addition of Meadowville Central, a garden “G” gauge railroad, a covered walkway, sponsored by St. John’s Foundation, connecting two of the four residences, and the introduction of LifeBio, a program which helps residents write their autobiographies.

Today, St. John’s Meadows includes 400 people who live in 338 homes and has a growing list of people choosing the community as their future homes. The spirit of volunteerism continues to thrive, with residents putting their creative energies to work for the benefit of others, both within and outside of the St. John’s family.
